800 EURO

An elegant and rare precision balance in turned brass. Originally used for high-precision weighing in textile or pharmaceutical contexts, this refined scientific instrument features a height-adjustable telescopic vertical stem with a screw-locking ring, anchored to a weighted circular base. The upper horizontal arm displays a finely hand-engraved scale numbered from 1 to 9, an end suspension hook, and a pointer-alignment system set within a curved C-shaped frame for zero-calibration. Retaining a rich natural patina, it represents a collector’s item for scientific antiques. Crafted in France during the late 19th century (circa 1880).
