A large, round, convex wall mirror, typically used in a cabinet of curiosities, with a turned and ebonized softwood frame. Along the edges of the frame are eight oval-shaped semiprecious stones, arranged in pairs: lapis lazuli, red jasper, jade, and Paesina stone. The stones are set in cast and gilded bronze frames. The back, also turned, features a small cast bronze rosette in the center. At the top of the mirror is a gilded bronze hook depicting the face of a winged cherub with outstretched wings, surmounted by ribbons and an eyelet. Italy, early 19th century
