A rare and unusual large pipe depicting a Vanitas-Memento Mori, crafted from genuine carved meerschaum and silver with a genuine amber mouthpiece. The large bowl of the pipe, made of smooth meerschaum, features a carved meerschaum lid, attached with a 900/1000 silver hinged ring. Along the surface of the bowl, a perforated and engraved silver plate depicts a Vanitas. The pipe was smoked with the lid closed, with smoke escaping from the central hole in the lid, also made of silver. Original wooden case, covered in leather.
