A defensive staff. The milord-shaped hilt, made of engraved ivory, depicts a flower with four petals and a pistil. Cabochon-cut ambers are set in the center of the petals, and a larger one is set in the center of the pommel. The shaft is made of malacca (rattan) wood. The sword has a German blade engraved with the word Solingen. The band is hallmarked 800 silver with a crown and crescent moon. The tip is made of ox horn. Germany, mid-19th century.
