6000 EURO
A Scottish Arts and Crafts jeweled walking stick, silver milord-shaped pommel with dendritic agate inlays. The handle features festoons and large, polished silver spiral ribbons, arranged symmetrically against a contrasting hammered background. Four oval scrolls frame four unusual antique agates, while five more adorn the richly scrolled end. Agate has long been a popular material in Scottish jewelry, reaching its peak in the Victorian era. A testament to its enduring appeal, several companies still produce agate costume jewelry inspired by Scottish tradition.
Malacca wood cane, metal ferrule. Edimburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom, 1898.
