A pair of Black see fan (Iciligorgia Schrammi, Duchassaing 1870), natural purple-black branches from a Wunderkammer collection. Originating from Indo-Pacific coral reefs, their reticulated structure has a rough, sometimes transparent, gauze-like surface. The parallelepiped-shaped bases are made of walnut with a burl veneer. Italy, late 19th century.
