A pair of black gorgonian branches (Iciligorgia Schrammi, Duchassaing 1870), naturally purple-black in color, fan-shaped and from a Wunderkammer collection. Originating from Indo-Pacific coral reefs, their reticulated structure has a rough, sometimes transparent, gauze-like surface. The vase-shaped bases are made of white ceramic with gilded parts and brass trim and finishes. Italy, late 19th century.
