Stockolm, Sweden 1927
1000 EURO
Art Deco walking stick designed and crafted by C.G. Halberg, signed and hallmarked. A splendid stick from the Swedish company, inspired by the visual arts during the years when the world was industrializing, mechanizing, and slipping away from straps and clips. It is punctuated by domes of varying diameters, crafted from cabochon-cut moonstones, encases the smooth, gilded silver curve underneath. The L-shaped knob is formed from a satin-finished rock crystal cylinder. The cane is made of ebony, Diospyros ebenum (J. Koenig 1781), with a metal ferrule. Stockholm, Sweden, 1927.
Halberg was a refined Swedish goldsmith and jeweler whose main shop was in Stockholm. He was known for his exquisite workmanship in silver and other metals. Halberg was appointed jeweler to the Swedish court and, at the beginning of the 20th century, was arguably Sweden’s most important jeweler. Stockholm, Sweden, 1927.
