An elegant pair of hand-blown clear glass apothecary funnels, produced in Italy during the 19th century. Each funnel features a wide conical body terminating in a slender, elongated stem. The tip of the stem is finished with a characteristic angled bevel (“beak cut”), a technical design intended to facilitate a smooth, continuous flow of liquid along the interior walls of receiving vessels while preventing splashback or air lock during galenic filtration and decanting.These pieces hold significant historical and scientific appeal, retaining the subtle inclusions and minor air bubbles characteristic of 19th-century artisanal glassblowing.
