Hinged Porcelain Box / Trinket Box (Bonbonnière) Circa 1840 (Louis Philippe Period / Mid-19th Century) France (Porcelaine de Paris) A charming French 19th-century shaped rectangular/octagonal hinged porcelain box (bonbonnière), finely hand-painted in vibrant polychrome overglaze enamels.The exterior and interior are beautifully decorated with botanical motifs: The cover is centered with a rich bouquet of summer wildflowers including orange chrysanthemums, pink asters, and purple and blue blossoms amidst detailed green foliage.The body sides are Adorned on all four sides with delicate floral sprays in shades of violet, cobalt, and indigo.The interior features internal floral spray surprises—a vibrant orange bouquet under the lid and a delicate yellow floral sprig at the bottom of the base.The porcelain box is fitted with its original gilt-bronze (ormolu) rim mounts, connected by a rear hinge and a shaped thumbpiece latch.Excellent antique condition. The porcelain retains bright, unrubbed enamel colors and original glaze luster. The gilt-bronze mount shows an attractive, undisturbed age patina with a firm, perfectly working hinge. Hand-painted on the underside with a factory mark in underglaze blue (bleu de grand feu). This blue mark is characteristic of 19th-century French hard-paste porcelain workshops, specifically identified with Paris Porcelain (Porcelaine de Paris) during the Louis Philippe period (circa 1830–1848). It attests to the authentic hand-painted enamel decoration by master porcelain decorators of the period.
