An important Italian diorama in a rectangular display case depicting a complex marine environment. The large wooden cabinet, crafted from Italian walnut, is shaped like a parallelepiped, with four sides made of cut glass and a lid also made of glass. The upper side, hinged to the front, lifts up to allow a full view of the marine contents. The rectangular base features small cushion feet at the corners. The upper edge of the base is engraved with geometric motifs, with a wavy profile, a similar motif is found on the upper part of the lid. The interior recreates an extraordinary and complex underwater environment, featuring, among other things, gorgonians, lichens, sponges, hermit crabs, scorpion fish, and triggerfish.
